ILLEGAL tuition centres seem to be mushrooming in Sungai Petani, Kedah. Their banners hang in every corner and road junction.
I asked a few centres whether they were registered with the Education Ministry and their answer was “no”.
In their flyers, they did not mention being registered with the relevant authorities such as the health department or fire department.
The people running these centres include teachers who are still in service.
I urge parents to be careful when registering their children for tuition. Find out whether these centres have the relevant licences to operate.
I hope the authorities will take immediate action to shut down centres that do not follow the Peraturan-Peraturan Pendidikan (Pendaftaran Institusi Pendidikan) 1997.
