IT is best for us to protect our family first. We need to control our children’s movements as once they are out of our houses, they become part of the public.
Once they are part of society, we cannot protect them and this is where the police come in. They take over the duty to protect the public.
However, we can also assist the police by reducing the undesirable possibilities by setting a set of simple rules for our children to follow.
> Children under 17 years of age should be home by a certain time (for example, by 9pm). They should be accompanied by an adult if they go out beyond the time limit.
> Never let your children drive a car or motorcycle without a valid driving licence. If they need to go somewhere, be responsible and drive them.
> Always get their friend’s contact details such as their age, school, address and contact telephone numbers.
> Be always curious about your children’s movements. It is good to know what they are up to.
The above are just some of the basic procedures that can be implemented by any household. The rules can be longer and much more detailed but it has to begin with the simple ones first. These house rules are there to protect our children and also to protect others.SIMPLE RULE,
